About Shannon

Shannon in the Morning at Padre Island

Shannon is a remarkable woman! Growing up in a family of seven children certainly teaches you a lot of things about yourself and others. Her early interest in the earth eventually led her to pursue a degree in geology, with a particular emphasis on earthquakes and volcanism. She later left off her masters work to concentrate on building her own family (with me, hurray!)  But while raising a husband and four girls she has also used her time practicing the oboe, studying plants and the use of organic gardening practices, practicing Spanish and learning Russian, and developing a hobby of cheesemaking! Through all this she constantly practices conservation principles and works to make the Earth a better place for everyone.  I've learned that there are ways even "conservatives" like me can work to preserve and cultivate the beautiful environment our earth offers us.  I know it's a much better place for me with her in it!
